“Count down: 3…2…1… Launch!”

“So many things in our own yard!"”

“I can actually SEE why it is called a loop.”

“No one is too big to learn through play.”

STEAM Playgrounds

  • STE(A)M Playgrounds are an event that can be held in your school or program and led by a TSPC Licensed PMSP staff member, using equipment from our Lending Library and Oregon State standards aligned hands-on lessons.

  • Student facing - In-School or In-Program playgrounds can be held for grade-levels, grade-bands, or the whole school/program using equipment from our Lending Library. A PMSP staff member will guide and co-teach lessons with educators. This introduces students to high quality STE(A)M materials and equipment, and at the same time, allows educators to gain experience in using STE(A)M learning equipment, classroom STE(A)M management strategies, and experience first-hand STE(A)M teaching and learning.

  • Educator facing - After/Before-school playgrounds can be held for a team of educators to explore and learn about materials from our Lending Library

  • Link to STE(A)M Program Recognition Guide

  • To support schools in developing their STE(A)M program offerings and to recognize programs that have been supporting student learning, state STE(A)M Education leaders and educators worked to develop STE(A)M Program Recognition Badges. These badges are designed to celebrate schools achievements and efforts by schools that may or may not consider themselves to be “STE(A)M Schools.

Oregon STE(A)M School Certification

  • The Oregon STE(A)M Education Rubric was developed in the effort to support schools transitioning to STE(A)M focused schools and to recognize practicing STE(A)M Schools. The rubric was designed to summarize five domains of STE(A)M learning: Leadership, Planning, Teaching, Learning, and Partnership. These domains and the supporting rubric were identified and developed between 2021-2024. The rubric was developed through collaboration of six Oregon STEM Hubs. The rubric has been iterated four times. It has been reviewed and adjusted based on over 100 Oregon educators' feedback. In the spirit of continuous improvement, this rubric will be reviewed and republished every two years based on educator and school feedback.
