This virtual (via Zoom) workshop focuses on Implicit Bias and Microaggressions in STEM - what they are, why they matter in STEM, and how to interrupt them. After an orientation to the concepts of implicit bias, the ladder of inference, and microaggressions, participants will explore how these impact diverse STEM learners. Participants will practice using a set of tools for interrupting microaggressions within the context of STEM learning environments.

This workshop is part of a series of four workshops that were developed by PMPS Equity LeNS (Equity Leadership Network for STEM) team, a group of equity experts and STEM education experts. The goal of these workshops is to empower educators, community program staff, and others who work with marginalized or underserved youth to effectively serve as an Ally*.
