STEM Equity Ally Workshop - Inclusive Curriculum 2.0 - Representation & Counternarratives

This virtual (Zoom) workshop will examine how and why representation of scientists and engineers is important to focus on when developing your STEM programming and curriculum. Do the ways we represent different identities counter or reinforce negative stereotypes? Whose voice is centered? Whose evidence is valued? Participants will examine the ways we tell stories about who is capable, who matters, and who is valued in STEM fields through curriculum, program design, and instructional strategies.

Facilitated by Louise Wilmes, Charissa Jones, Mehreen Krueger, Caitlin Everett, and Dan Prince

This workshop is part of a series of four workshops that were developed by PMPS Equity LeNS (Equity Leadership Network for STEM) team, a group of equity experts and STEM education experts. The goal of these workshops is to empower educators, community program staff, and others who work with marginalized or underserved youth to effectively serve as an Ally*.

Audience: Community STEM educators, out-of-school educators, and classroom teachers

Cost: Free

Register to receive the Zoom access information prior to the workshop.
